The 20-second version: Kibble is fully automatic — You can ignore it. Peek at the cold feeder every few days. Run the sprinklers and jot it on the fridge log. Say hi to Ziggy.

Meet Ziggy
About 4 years old, Abyssinian torbie (we think — she's newly ours). Funny, silly, and a genuine fan of cool people, so you're already her type.
Not skittish, not a hider. If she's home, she's on the living room rug, the couch, or out back.
🍽️ Her two feeders
Dry kibble silo → ignore completely. It auto-feeds twice a day and is stocked for the whole week. No action needed.
Petlibro Polar (cold feeder) → needs to be checked.
Plug-in cooling, auto-dispenses on a schedule. Three slots, one per day — so it runs about 3 days on a full load. Whoever's around with a spare minute can top it up.
Don't remove the lid. It's a bayonet mount and a pain to reseat. Everything below works around it.
Leftovers: if a slot still has food in it, scrape it into one of her spare bowls (yellow crate) and set it on the floor. She grazes on her own schedule.
Refill: one can per empty slot. Cans are in the yellow crate.
Tidy: a quick wipe of anything exposed. No deep clean needed.
If you find all three slots empty — don't panic. It might mean she polished off day 3, or it might mean a couple of days slipped by. Either way she has a full kibble silo as backup, so she is definitely not starving. She just prefers the wet food and is shameless about it.
🚽 Litter + Waste
She almost never uses her litter — she has her own door and prefers the great outdoors. If you happen to spot a deposit, compost bags are in the yellow crate (they keep the trash from smelling).

No trash or recycling duty. Bins will be near-empty so no worries on that front!

🚪 Doors —
the one thing we’d be careful about
The metal screen door is the outer door, sitting in front of the actual door her kitty door is cut into. You'll see how it works immediately:
Propped fully open = her kitty door works normally. This is the default.
Closed at all = she's fully locked in,
Her kitty door also auto-locks at 5pm. After that she can come in but not go out. It reopens the next morning.
Evening visits: don't leave a house door standing open after dark. She's not really a bolter — right up until she's actually outside, at which point she runs purely for sport and you will not win that race.
She sometimes brings home... presents. We're told this means she really likes you. We apologize wholeheartedly in advance.

She wears a tracking collar. As long as it has juice, we can watch her whole adventure path from Seattle — which is honestly one of our favorite things, and also means we're keeping an eye on her even when nobody's at the house.
We can see the battery remotely too. If it's running low and you have an evening free:
Make sure she's inside, then close the metal screen door — that locks her in completely
Take the collar off
Charger's in the yellow crate — any open outlet, ~1.5 hours
Collar back on, screen door propped open again before you leave ← the important ones
Best done after 5pm, when her kitty door has already locked for the night. Zero pressure — only if it's easy.

If you catch her doing something ridiculous, send us a photo — we're going to miss her and would love to enjoy her vicariously.

There's a second clipboard in the yellow crate for leaving notes to each other. Use it for anything: "fed her at 6," "she was very weird today," whatever.
Mail and packages go under Fay's desk.
💧 Garden Watering
Both yards are on an irrigation system with flow already dialed in. You're just turning the water on and letting it run.
When: before 9am, or after sundown (~5–6pm).
How Long: either 1 hour every other dayor 30 minutes daily — whichever fits your day. Both work.
Rain rule: real rain or a properly gray day → skip it. Heavy rain → skip 2–3 days. Our guess is it'll be warm, so plan on watering.
