THE NAME
Was born from Ayali - our founder’s childhood nickname given by her sister - iuhli echoes the Tagalog isauli: to return, to give back, to bring something back to where it belongs. In Filipino culture it’s common for us to pickup a few monikers, but few possess the secret power to ignite the fire in a small girl and her big dreams.
For us, iuhli is a meeting point - a space that honors where you come from, embraces who you’re becoming, and celebrates the abundance we give back in gratitude.

Business and administrative support for independent creatives and local BIPOC business owners, so they can maintain their projects and focus on what they’re passionate about.
Workshops
Gatherings that make art accessible where it often isn't. Intimate, low-barrier, rooted in the belief that creative agency is essential to a healthy life.
Original work
Sculpture and painting in oil and gouache, drawing on anthropological and mythological motifs, responding to cultural dissolution and treating human experience as an opportunity for healing.

WHERE WE’RE GOING
A physical home for all of it: a community arts hub in Oakland with affordable studio and gathering space, open-source programming, a kitchen and a garden. A place where creative and cultural work can sustain the people who do it.
